At sea in a Liverpool pool
I wrote about my experience of taking a Personal Sea Survival course at Seascope Maritime in Liverpool, the latest in my articles for Lloyds Register Foundation Heritage and Education Centre. Summary: I survived. I'm not sure I would if I'd been turfed into the ocean in a howling gale, but I might.
Here is the piece.

floor plan maker really brings to life the intensity of that sea survival course. It's one thing to read about it, but your description of the training makes it clear how crucial those practical skills are. Glad you survived the Liverpool pool, at least.
photo colorizer really highlights how different a controlled pool environment is from the real ocean. The contrast between the course and an actual howling gale makes the whole experience feel much more sobering.
planliva really captures the feeling of being in a pool versus the real ocean. I loved the detail about the helicopter escape and how it made you think about what would happen in a real storm. It’s a great reminder that training is one thing, but the sea is another.
